wavebox with 6200 transformer?

I understand the tunze wavebox and extension uses the 6261 pump which is the cross over between 6200 and 6100. The motor block and propeller is 6200 and the transformer is 6100.

I have two 6200.01s and 2 AGE built external waveboxes built onto the 96x48x31 Aquarium. Can I use the 6200 transformers? How are they different? Will the 7095 controler work with this combination?

Thank-you in advance

Hello 775coral, it will be stronger than the wavebox pump. With your tank size the two pumps will be perfect... But the 7095 will not be able to generate any wave. You will need an 6091 wave controller

I used the 6200 transformers in my external waveboxes on my tank. They worked fine. FWIW, The dimensions of my tank is the same as yours.

46bfinGA, no kidding! How long has your system been up? do you have any center bracing? I was nervous filling mine the first time - it has only a euro brace! - 8'x4' is larger in person than on paper!

what other water circulation did you use?
I am setting up for SPS etc., so i am looking for good movement in most of the area: 4 seaswirl 1" returns and the above mentioned 4 - 5 tunzes (2 in the wave boxes)

775coral, i also have the same dimension tank but mine is only 24" tall with just a euro brace no cross brace. My tank made out of acrylic 1" thick all around with 4" brace. I don't notice any bow when i have the tank filled. I also have 4 external waveboxes, and going to use 4-6 tunze 6305.

IMO, AGE is a well known company and they will not do anything that is unsafe or questionable. You should be fine with 2 waveboxes and couple large stream pump. I would recommend 4 tunze stream 2 6305 and that will take care of your flow situation. I am not sure if you are going to implement any type of CL. If you do, go with 6205 x 4

Steve, you're right AGE makes beautiful Aquariums. I poured 6 new footings under the house to support it and it just really seamed like a lot of water (mass).

Mine has ¾” glass sides, pvc bottom and acrylic top euro brace & 2 ext overflows.

Thanks for the 6200 - due to arrive tomorrow. I am not that familiar with the tunzes â€"œ yet to touch/install one. I am planning for a fairly open aquascape, but I what to be able to increase the peak flow as the corals grow in. Not sure what I do, but I have (in the last 3-4 years) great - to almost too fast- coral growth & hate throwing away coral frags â€"œ I have easily saturated the locals - with my 75 & 125 gal tanks. I am thinking of getting fish that nibble on corals to ease the number of frags I get â€"œ I am not sure if that really works …

Point is do you think the 62xx pumps are strong enough or should I look at maybe one 63xx?

Pascal, I would go with 4 tunze 6305 to avoid future upgrade due to the size of your aquarium and the rate of coral growth in your aquarium :D. Your 6200 pump may not arrive tomorrow due to Fedex crewed up on the pick up schedule. I hope you will get it by friday since you are not too far from California.

My tank is 3/4" all around and has 6" eurobracing all around and three braces that run across the top. That left me with 4 openings in the top. I don't run a big wave in the tank, I use the waveboxes more for the swaying effect on the corals and it helps to keep the sediment suspended better IMO. Your right about the size, it is frigging huge once it is up on the stand. Mine is "in wall" and has no access from the front so it is very challenging to reach the front pane.

I sold the waveboxes with the 6200 transformers for the newer style wavebox pumps(Thanks Jarhead!!) But they worked great. They produced alot of flow in the tank. On top of them and the Dart return pump I have 4 6101's and multicontroller. IMO plenty of flow for any coral.

I contemplated using the seaswirls but opted not to. The extra upfront cost and additional maintenance that would be needed was not worth it to me. I opted to just run a single 1.5" outlet into one corner of the tank and let the Tunze do their job.
