Are there any methods that anyone uses to get their muchrooms/rics to spread faster or is it soley based on the mushroom?

That being said what are the ideal condtions for the growth/spreading of mushrooms/rics?

If you target feed them they grow much faster in my limited experience so far, but i've nticed certain species just plan grow much faster than other. I have some green and brown ones that grow like weeds and my orange ones grow almost as fast, while my steel blue ones grow very slowly.

I feed mine a mixture of mysis shrimp and cyclopeeze that are metinated in a little tank water and .5 ML of selcon. Seems to be working pretty well so far.

Florida ricordea are all the same species. Somemof the individual colonies eat faster and grow faster due to individual variations (and other factors). You just have to keep looking around until you find the "fast" growers that you want.

Woops, My bad. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I meant certain colonies, or perhaps even more generally certain "color morphs" grow faster than others. Green ones seem to be the fastess growing color morphs.

To add to my original post: if you want them to spread quicker, you can try propagating them and help them multiply quicker ;)

sharp razor makes mine spread faster.....

I'll second that :D I've been propping a ric florida into 4 or 5 pieces every other week lately. I'm starting to have some good trading stock -- too bad they're all nickel sized or smaller right now. Can't wait until they're a little larger.

Do you just make sure a peice of the mouth is on all parts to ensure they live? Just got a very small orange ric last night and may want to try this eventually.

You can do it that way, but in my experience so far you don't absolutely have to (I still try to though). Pieces that don't have part of the mouth will likely live and grow one eventually, it just takes longer.

Yeah, I accidentally cut one without getting a part of the mouth and I wondered if it would live, and it has so far. Must be pretty hungry though =)

Oyster eggs and rotifers.....Mix the two together, you can also add cyclopeeze.....Take a 12cc syringe and directly feed them once or twice a week....Works wonders on lps also.....My clams love it to..

You're talking about the ones with the curved tip right? I think I have one of those somewhere that might be useful. Using a turkey baster with cyclopeeze is a pain.

Either tip will work fine.....Just gentle press the plunger over the mouth of the coral......And there is no return suction with a syringe....

That's exactly what I was thinking :D

Unfortunately the syringe I have was used to administer a numbing agent to my gums while the stitches from my wisdom teeth surgery were being removed. Hopefully I can clean it out pretty good and it'll be ok :D

Hot water and it should be fine......You would be suprised at the stuff that stuff thats been in my syringes......
