i got the stand last night, did the reinforcing i thought it needed today and brought it home.my sump is so big i had to remove one of my new 2x4 braces to drop the sump in from the top.the stand is for a 120 and i have a 90 but i figured the extra 6" would come in great for plumbing the closed loop.now i can have the stand against the wall, and still have the loop.i plan on adding filler boards to fill in the 6" gap on each side.these will go from the stand to hood and when its done it will appear to be a 120.heres a few pics, the second one shows the wall gap behind the tank(this is where ill hide the loop plumbing).

yeah i got a hood with it.it is only like 8" tall so im going to have to cut the center out and rebuild it to accomidate the halides.

looks nice but the way you put that 2 x 4 in there is the way it can handle the least load. flipped up it will have a very large amount of extra load capacity.

i thought about adding another 2x4 on edge under it.its not gonna see water for a couple of months.i even thought about an aluminum angle beam bolted under the 2x4.i did the 2x4 that way so i could notch it to tie into the center wood beam.

i hate corner overflows,i made sure when i got this tank,it had the offcenter overflow.i want to have 3 full sides to view.

I left just over a foot behind my stand so I can get behind it. I'm going to put panels up to hide the gap. The extra space is great.

So hows the canopy coming along? I got the Drill bits in so anytime your ready to drill - I could drop them off and make a visit to Rockin Reef. Of course I spent my monthly allowance the first of the month - oh well :D .

You get a MONTHLY allowance :eek1:
I gotta try that
LOL - I was just put on "aquarium restrictions" due to the unforeseen expense of my 55 to 120 upgrade :(

Checkinhawk,
I agree about the 3 full viewable sides...I was able to do some nice aquascaping on the two ends because of this fact.

LOL - yea I hear ya! That's what happened to me, I added another tank (65g) and of course you need more live stock :D .

LOL - I used to tell my wife, "Well, I could be drinking!"
And after my forays into:
1. golf
2. digital photography
3. digital video editing
4. saltwater fly fishing
5. and now reefkeeping
she said:
"I'd rather you drink - it's cheaper!" :)

i am ready to drill it anytime you are.if you are coming this way i could meet you somewhere(maybe rockin reef)i kinda want to talk to them anyway about liverock.the canopy is at a stand still.i wanted to get with you before i even make a single cut into the hood.that and i dont have the lights yet,so it would be premature to work on it yet.

Rockin reef sounds good, is Saturday OK? Not sure when they open but I figure around 10. I got my lights :D I'm checking them out now - this is very cool. I've come up with a few designs for my glass and wanted to also talk to you about the plastic slotted material. Of course I can meet up with you any day, but I know you work during the day.

yeah saturday 10ish is cool with me.thats cool you got your lights.you got a 250 halide right?ill bring some of the plastic with me so you can see it.

That would be great. This is really going to look cool. I was looking in the lighting area of home depot today and saw some small lights that wrap around things. They reminded me of christmas lights in a tube. I thought that we could either light the glass with the MH or with those - might be a cool either way.

Do you know anything about wiring of the icecaps MH? They have a female power plug-in piece but their instructions don't mention it at all. I'm doing a search now to see if I can find anything.
