Weather Radios...

Well, we're into T-storm season and hurricane season is right around the corner. I just wanted to give a rave review for the Midland NOAA radio I bought from Publix Supermarkets for just under $30. Very easy to program and the alerts for severe weather could very well save lives if tornados or other severe storms hit anywhere in the area. It is also programmable for Civic Emergencies, and even Amber Alerts if you want to get them. I think with all we've seen lately, perhaps some who haven't taken steps to get one or who haven't known which one to get can check into this brand at a very reasonable price. I just got a warning about severe thunderstorms through 8 am tomorrow...I have mine set for Orange, Seminole and Volusia since I'm very near the intersection of Seminole and Volusia and I'm able to monitor weather reports around the store as well. The alarm would definitely, IMO, wake even a pretty deep sleeper. Just a thought. Marcye

I can proudly say I've slept through one of our weather alarms, not sure ours is the same as this one, but i've tested it in the morning and it is definately LOUD, but then I slept through hurricanes, tornados, frat partys, blizzards, hail and ice storms, and sonic booms caused by space shuttles, once even slept through a volcanic eruption, but then it was on a neighboring island so I don't think that counts.

I used to live in hawaii, was there for a couple different eruptions but to be completely honest with you, most of them aren't all that loud, watching molten rock coming out of the earth though is definately one of those things everyone should see in their life, its just really something else to watch a river of melted earth come down a mountainside. Wonder if they have alerts for that sort of thing on them radios.
