taking all the fish out of the display tank and put them in a 55 gallon hospital tank. treating with cuppramine and medicated foods. fish include a hippo tang, purple tang, 2 clowns, a chromis, and a freshwater mollie.

qt was started on 12/28/09 and so far so good... fish are eating like normal and acting like they should.

this is the 1st time for me to ever qt any fish, after introducing a pbt that had no signs of ick i will now qt all fish.

You are making the right decision. Best of luck, it should work out fine. Check your ammonia and have plenty of sw on hand 4 water changes. Test your copper level.

How are you eliminating (best) or vastly reducing ammonia in QT for the coming seven or more weeks?

Is there robust nitrification in QT? Did you cycle the medium intended for QT very well in advance?

You should not have to worry about ammonia in QT in general against ich, unless you (otherwise not for ich) have to use a drug that affects nitrification (such as an antibiotics against external bacterial infections that may occur independent of ich treatment).

Yes please keep an eye on amonnia and your copper level. Hopefully you are using a bare bottom tank with PVC for hiding. Keep the Cupramine around .5 for 4 weeks.
