Weird and unusual tank ideas

I have had some strange and interesting tank ideas in the past, and am curious of others ideas. My favorite idea, that I'd love to acomplish one day is a maybe 10-15 gallon tank in my Astro Van. I'd have of course about 1 inch thick acrylic for stability, rock glued down, only sps glued as well, one hardy *** fish, led lighting, filtration like a biocube, cooling fans, a chiller (duhhh), and a solar panel controlling everything with a couple car batteries, or something that can run everything at night till the sun comes up. Almost flawless, almost.

my dream tank has a beach with waves outside you can sunbathe on, and then slopes down to open water for swimming, with a reef at the far end that has glass looking into a living room on the other side. This would create an inwall tank from inside the house, and a nice beach outside. The thing I am struggling with in my fantasy world is how to keep birds from swooping down and eating my fish. I figure about 30 feet would be enough length and maybe 12 feet wide or so for the pool/tank. I saw something like this in the bird section of the monterey aquarium, but it was only about half that size, with little depth.

I will later today Logan, you ****...Pickles, I like your idea, it's pretty fantastic. You can make it in maybe a room that has a clear roof, maybe, then the water wont evaporate as fast, or you can hire a professional hunter, and they can snipe the birds all day long...

yeah my wife does want an indoor pool, or what they call a "lanai" in florida. I just wonder if I could get the screens to move so they aren't always there.

If they can have retractable roofs on football stadiumsm that'll be cake. Now we'd have to worry about the rain and the pool/reef flooding potentially. I'm sure it's been done, and it probably isn't impossible.

Is it pretty these days? I went some years ago and they might have had an algal bloom. You couldn't even see through the murky green water. I was bummed.

Eww, that wouldn't be nice to see....If I ever have a large house, which is highly doubtful, I think that idea would be dooable. I'd probably just do an indoor pool, with led lighting over the whole thing, and have a switch that changes it to regular florescents so you can swim without the light blaring. Kinda a rough though, but I just thought it up, haha

the biospheres ocean is still very murky and covered in diatoms. as of right now the water is being turned over once every 3 days. They are in the process of upgrading the filtration. New skimmers and better pumps. the goal is for it to turn the volume 3 times a day. Its just shy of a million gallons.

I understood that the Biosphere tank went untended for quite awhile with the expected result that all the coral and most of the fish died - EXCEPT the yellow tang population, which expanded greatly. They arent sure yet as to why but it has sparked some research.

Well mine is certainly tough as nails - and quite a character too. It's one plucky little fish.

Wow - turnover once every 3 days! When you think about how we talk about turnovers per hour...
