So I have this weird orange growth occurring on my sand. Any indication of what is going on?

These are brown diatoms. Very common young reef type of organism. Cut lights to a minimum if there's no corals yet, vacuum them out on water change and continue a good maintenance routine and use RODI water. They'll subside eventually given that there's proper filtration on the system

Thank you... Once the filtration is better in my tank will these go away or be filtered out?

Very normal phase. Just keep up good practices such as regular water changes and don't over feed, good skimmer, they'll just diminish on their own. Then something else will grow such as cyano or hair algae. ;-)

Usually the sign of the end stages of a cycle in a new reef or high phosphates or silicates in an established reef
