Weird polyp issue

I'm sure it's more common than not, but I've noticed that one of my trumpet polyps or heads have just started to "drip" right off the skeleton. The colony looks fine but the group of heads that this one is part of looks to be slightly upset and contracted. Is it bailing out or something? Just weird looking.

Mode of reproduction. Im not sure what triggers it, but Ive had a number of colonies do that before. They 'drip' off tissue, that settles on a rock below them, and develops into a new cluster. Cool stuff.

Wow, I'd love to see a picture of that. I've never heard of this before. Hormigaquatic, do you have any pcitures? What species have you seen do this?

I dont have a photo of it- sorry about that. It really does look just like pIankton described though- the polyp looks half deflated and misshapen, and looks like its just dripping off tissue. Think of the clocks in the Salvador Dali paintings.. Montre Molle au Moment, Persistencia de la Memoria... lol

Ive seen at least 2 species of Caulastrea do it; Ive seen something similar in Echinophyllia as well.

Cool to know. I can't get a pic either because just like all instances, it happens to be in the back of the colony. I don't think it's gonna make it though. It sways in the current and has been knocking around the rock a little. Looks like the tissue is dieing in spots.
