weird qt behavior

Any reason why seven days into what seemed like a successful cupramine treatment for velvet one of my clowns would suddenly start flashing?

there is a small bowl of sand at the bottom of the tank for the lawnmower blenny to play in (I talked to the seachem folks about this, and they agreed it was fine as long as I monitored the copper levels - they're at a steady .05). Could it be some sand in a gill? the routine for the seven days has been the same with regular water changes, except I did put a light over the tank yesterday for the first time.

thanks for any advice,

jeff

After 7 days, the fish could still have parasites or skin irritation from them. Copper only kills parasites in the free-swimming stage, not while they're still on/in the fish. Are you dosing the new water, during WCs, with Cupramine before adding it to the QT? Just a few minutes at a low Cu level can ruin your treatment regimen.
