tank size- ten gallon
substrate- 1/2inch live sand small oolith
filtration- 2 diy sponge filters the sponge is the intake covers for power sweeper power heads.
tank inhabitant 3 male and 3 female H. zoostera + over 30 unsexed babies ranging from 1 week to 1 day. 4 nassarious snails. chaetomorpha, 2 mangroves, and lots of tiny crustaceans like copepods (i culture three species) amphipods (at least three different species), and non parasitic isopods.
I have what looks like opaque clouds that swirl around in the tank. its realy odd. it wont mix. i have slurped some out of the tank with a turkey baster put it in a soufle cup (like a to go blue cheese cup at a wing shop) and shook it. a few minutes later it went back to its heterogenous state. im at a complete loss. its almost as if the water mixed with white stuff becomes hydrophobic; hydrophobic water!
btw i do weekly 50 percent water changes, these keep my nitrates at 0. however i have recently begun to develope an oil film on the top of the water. any correlation between the two problems?
thanks guys
