I am looking for a place to get Weld-On 40. I made a meshwheel for my skimmer, and superglue isn't cutting the mustard. Unfortunately these things aren't PVC or ABS.
Possibly a hobby glue could work too, but I have no idea if they make solvent glue for acrylics sold in the hobby stores. Ideally I'd like something water thin to get in the seams of the impeller, but the recommendation in the DIY forum seems to be weldon 40.
Total Plastics- 412-322-1072 They are off of Route 65, Ohio river Blvd. I just got #4 plus a couple applicators. They are getting in #14 for me also. They are just off of the West End bridge.
Water thin, you will want #4 then. #40 is 2-part and thicker, but will bond acrylic to ABS and PVC.
I'm thinking now these plastics are actually polyethylene or Derlin. It's just a guess, but a semi educated one based on how the plastics feel and have reacted to other glues. I'm really hoping this #4 does the trick... otherwise I may have to try my hand at melting them together with a fine tipped soldering iron.
