Well Water and RO/DI unit

Does anyone use well water for their tanks? How often do you replace filters and membrane in you RO/DI unit? I just bought a house and the well water is really hard with TDS of almost 800

i have always used well water. i change my sediment filter every 6 months and the rest of the filters usually around once a year. the tds on my well water is less than 50 before filtration. you would need to base how often you change filters on yourfilters on how quickly your tds rises. hth

Another factor of ro/di unit performance is to keep an eye on what your water pressure is at the source.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.. well ok.. when I lived in Pennsylvania.. we had well water. The water softener was one of the best investments ever made (rented from the water company).. hard water has lots of problems besides the fish tank...

My recommendation for High TDS in your well water is to raise it. If you are getting that much sediment in your water the pump is probably sitting in or near the muck at the bottom of the aquifer.
