Wennerae Mantis?

I've certainly read of the undesirable qualities of mantis shrimp (splitting your thumb, breaking your tank glass, and killing all your tank buddies), but I've also seen the Wennerae Mantis for sale from purveyors as an addition to a reef tank.

This seems counter-intuitive or is this a better sort of mantis ? Or is it that, regardless of their bad behavior(the mantis,that is), some people just want have the mantis experience?

People make dedicated tanks just for mantis shrimp.

I can undertand that and imagine a dedicated Mantis tank to be a fascinating biotope.

My question is:are Mantis, Wennerae different from other mantis shrimps or are they representative of the genera (my hope being that they had positive attributes that allows them as valued members of the small reef community)

Any enlightenment is apprecitiated.

Sorry about that, I seem to have missed the question that first time. I don't believe they are any different than any other smashing mantis.

Ray's Mantis list, doesn't suggest they are any different either.

You'd be better off asking in the Mantis Forum, rather than here. But I imagine the response is not going to suggest they are reef safe.
