Wet Dry Filter Help

I have a 55 gal fish only tank and i just switched from a twin canister felter setup to a wet dry filter setup. I have a skimmer and a few powerheads, my filter has been running for 24 hours and the water is very cloudy, i have activated carbon and a filter pad in the drip tray along with the bio balls. Should my water be clear with this set up? Is there more to the mechanical part that I am missing

Are you sure it is cloudy and not microbubbles?
Prepare for people to tell you to remove the bio balls as they will harbor nitrates.

no the water has a yellow color. are micro bubbles common in wet dry filters? If i remove the bio balls what filters the bio hazards in the tank

Mostly live rock in your tank. Bioballs will trap nitrates but not for a year or so. They do help with ammonia levels if you are having issues with that at all, though. Micro bubbles are common with in sump or hon on the back skimmers and every now and then a power head will blow a puff a micro's into the tank(not sure why though). Some say that micro bubbles are just a visual thing, some say they are bad for corals, crabs, and shrimp. I haven't had personal experience with bubbles harming anything so I can't say for sure. As for the yellow color of the water, I don't know. Possibly something has been stirred up with the change in filtration, but I can't say for sure. Hope this helps!

Was the wet/dry filter rinsed well before installing? That's the only thing I can think of if your water was clear before changing over.
