Most I've seen around here do a refugium. Wet/Dry filters are on their way out for the most part it seems. They work great for converting ammonia, but a lot of people find they cause nitrates to continually rise regardless of water changes/feeding habits.

I have done both, I do like my current sump with fuge, but I liked the wet/dry too, a lot of people think they are outdated, but in a FO set-up, I still think a wet-dry is just fine.
