Wet skimming to lower nitrates?

My nitrates have been fluctuating between 25 and 50 ppm lately after being at zero a couple of months ago.
I have the Aqua C Remora Pro skimmer.
Would getting a wetter skimate aid in lowering my nitrates?

You may be able to export more organics with less drained skimmate (wetter) and that might help reduce nitrate. Growing macroalgae is another good method.
