What am I doing wrong?

I am pretty new to photography and especially reef photography. I am getting better at getting shots at stationary subjects. I have no idea at what I am doing wrong when it comes to getting shots of my tangs or my wrasse.

Camera = Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7
Probably not the best camera but it I did not know any better :(

Here is a pic of some zoos.

Now a few pics of the wrasse and tang

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong? I am hoping that you can get the camera settings from the photos.

Thank you,

The biggest difference is the noise, which appears to be due to ISO 400. Set your camera to ISO 100 and not auto. Just about anything over 100 is going to be noisy and the higher the ISO goes, the more noise you will have ...generally speaking. So you will need a faster shutter speed to compensate for the lower ISO. Hopefully some others will jump in and give you some more technical answers.

Ok.. I was told to increase the iso since the subject is moving. I will try the lower iso speed tomorrow. Should I use Macro mode or set it to Shutter priority?

Thank you for the help :)

geez.. is that my wrasse ? :) :)

I'm sure that with proper iso and shutter settings the pics would be even better after a few touch ups. D*** I need to improve big time.
