I have a 30 gal extra hight which is 24" high and 24 " long and 12 " wide.....this equals 4.3 watts per gallon. Can i keep a small LTA?

It's not really WPG as it's tank height...

That is a deep tank for a 130watt light..

I have a BTA in a 29 with an Aqualight 130watt and feel I am at the minumum...

I think it is inadequate. PC bulbs do not have very strong pentrating power and will be particularly preoblematic in your situation. You have a deep tank and LTAs are bottom-dwelling anemones.

edit: as 55semi said, Mh will probably be needed for an LTA in a 24" deep tank.

ok, thanks guys...I'm gonna try to place a small bta half way up on a ledge, say 12' from the light. I hope it stays put.

Good choice; I think a BTA will be much happier in those conditions than an LTA would have been.

The problem is he may not stay where you put him. I had one that attached to the middle of the front glass!! Good luck.. R
