What are these things?

The glass is becoming covered with these things. This occured within the last couple days. I am also getting some brown algae on the glass and what I believe to be hair algae on the glass and rocks, but not extreme by any meand. Bubble algae (I think because it's green and looks like little bubbles) has appeared on a small area of the rock. Just wondering, Are these guys good? Also, I put in cured rock from the LFS which was in my tank within an hour from being removed from the LFS's tank and never saw an ammonia spike or nitrites. Nitrates have been 20 for over a week now. Am I ready for a cleaning crew? Thanks.

I have them too, tank is almost 7 weeks old now. I was told these were hydroids, a sign your tank is doing well.

hydroid jellyfish. just one of those things that pops up and goes away. not really good or bad, some fish will eat them. but in a few weeks they will all be gone.

Agree with ^^^^ I've got them in my tank. Always taking them out when i run my MagFloat over my glass and they are back the next day. Nothing to worry about.....

Jellyfisfh makes sense. A few of them have little legs that float and aren't stuck to the glass.

Are these a good sign? Am I ready for a clean up crew? I love watching these guys, but I want to watch something in the tank without having to use a magnifying glass.

just part of the tank maturing. not really a sign of anything other than your tank can support some sort of life :). if your water parameters are good, then add a clean up crew. how long has your nitrates been around 20ppm?

:D, they probably could sting your hand, but I doubt you would feel it at all. (they're just too small to do any damage)
