I have been reading about chillers and CO2 for your fish tank, can any one tell me what they are used for. also does any one know where I can get cheap RO water to fill my 75 gal up? thank you

chillers do just that...keep water chilled to a certain temp......prolly don't need one in this climate unless it gets very hot in your house in the summer.....CO2 is used with calc reactors to stabilize ph and alk...I think eddies sells RO water...or you can buy distilled or drinking water from walmart....the drinking water is RO....I think walmart water is 65 or so cents a gal...no idea about eddies.....hth.....Dave

Chillers: Used for temp control. Lowers water temp. Often used with a heater and controller to maintain a stable temp.

CO2 (Carbon dioxide): CO2 injected into a calcium reactor acidifies the recirculating water, thereby dissolving the reactor media. Maintains calcium and magnesium levels, alkalinity, and replaces trace elements.

CO2 is also often used in planted freshwater aquariums.

thanks guys!! My mom is bring home 5 big deer park water jugs for me. I found that the health pet center on rt4 in N.greenbush sells RO water for 30 a gal. I really want to make my own RO water system. does anyone have any DIY plans for them?

Just buy a unit off of ebay; many of us have with no troubles...don't waste your time with buying water or old units.

If you're serious about maintaining a saltwater reef, an RODI unit is a 'must' and in the long haul, you'll be glad you did...and they'e easy to set up, too! :D

ebay all the way for an RO/DI unit. Replacing the filters is easy the DI you can get the media and a refillable cartridge.
