What are these?

If you look closely you will see 3 small "corals" growing near each other. I've been watching them for about a month. They are growing near my wife's Ricordia garden. I'm thinking they could be babies, but I'm not sure. In the same area is also a torch.

I have seen this with my torch once or twice. Unfortunately the polyps are floating around the tank and not attached. It is bailout rather than sexual reproduction.

Do they ever attach and grow a new skeleton? I was curious since I have a torch head floating around free at the moment as well. Mine has sort of stuck himself up against the side of a rock and stayed in place for the past few days. I was hoping that he might stay there and grow out a new base.

Mine never did but my tank is pretty high flow. Maybe if you move them into a low flow area. Or glue them down.

Yup I have two gyres. There are no dead spots anymore.

I'm convinced now that my torch spawned. I'm starting to find baby torches all over the tank. Of course most are near another coral that they will sting later. :spin2:

No, I do not believe that is the case. If polyp bailout means that the existing Torch heads "shed" some of their polyps to float around the tank to reattach and grow somewhere else, I don't believe that is what has occurred. These are very small representations of a Torch coral.

Interesting. I am not an expert on this but I thought the options were polyp bailout or sexual reproduction that could result in detached new growth.
