Im setting up some cheato and need a light fixture for it. I was wondering what is everyone using just to get an idea what people are using and how well its worked for u

Nothing special here, just the Melev's refugium lighting set up. My cheato has been growing nicely and I don't see a lot of alge growing in my display so something is going right. :)

Don't laugh... a little ghetto.

Some of the memebers use the Light of America set up and they say its great too.

I'm using the same fixture as Eric ($4.99 Home Depot special), and an 18w compact flourescent floodlight (Commercial Electric) that I bought locally. Not sure if it's the ideal spectrum, but it does the job pretty well.

I'm using a couple daylight spectrum screw in bulbs that fit in the hood that came with the 10gl tank im using. nothing special. I wonder if i need to upgrade? I like using the hood cuase my cat wont dip her paws in to go fishing. and the fuge sits on the floor for now.

I used to use 2 of the 6500k bulbs from home depot and cheato and caulerpa never really grew for me. I switched to the 2 sprip fixtures that came with the 55g tank and they both took right off. Not sure of the spectrum on them or anything but so far they have worked great!

i switched to the 65watt LOA light, and im seeing my chaeto take off.

before it barely grew, but i think i was using the 2700k bulb.
