What are you guys using

What are some things that are safe to use for a clean up crew in a fish only tank. I understand shrimp dont stand much of a chance but what about other things.

Also are sand sifting stars ok or will they eat all the benificial bacteria as well.

I just use hermit crabs and snail, both very large and very small, and continually replace them as needed.

As they said before, Hermits and Snails work great, I also have a lawnmower blenny that does a great job as well.

Depending on the fish you decide to get can vary what else you can put in the tank.

I thought so. Just wanted to make sure. Just thought it would get to be an exspensive meal if the hermits and snails are used as food instead of cleaning. Thanks

Large turbos, and nassarius (sp) snails. I have had a skunk cleaner shrimp in with my 6" puffer for over a year now. It all depends on the fish.
I hate those snail killing hermits....

The down side to hermit crabs is that they'll eat each other and snails. So I've stopped putting in hermits and next time I'll just add sifting stars and tiger cuke. I've to say my pair of Dragon gobies are doing a great job cleaning the SB.
