What are your Mag values

just above NSW. 1400

If it isnt DIY that you make with no more effort than it takes to make Kool-aid, you are wasting your money on glorified water

buy mag chloride and mag sulfate from BRS and make your own for pennies on the dollar in comparison

where can I find the recipe?

that is what the product has in it, its in a powder/crystalline form.

Jabrams, go to Bulk Reef Supply. They sell a kit that allows you to make your own Ca, Mg and Alkalinity supplement. As Flyyguy said, it is priced at pennies on the dollar compared to the already mixed supplements. All you do is add RODI water to their powders, mix and dose.

flyyyguy, why so high?

because I can forget to dose it for a month and never drop below NSW values

I do.

I know that every time I have neglected the levels of calcium, alk and mag in my polyp/lps tank for any extended periods of time(which I have done too often), I can see some things take a turn for the worse. Why exactly I have no idea, but the solution is easy. Treat every tank like a sps tank in concern to the levels of the big three and you will be doing yourself a favor.

1400 - 1450 here as well and that's "not high" although Z & P can adapt to lower magnesium levels. Probably more important to keep it constant rather than worry whether you are at the right level or not. I've read many articles from some well known PhD's in the industry with conflicting opinions on "whats the optimum" mag level.
