Chemical warfare!

Yes grape algae, can and will give off a chemical into the tank. I am using both Grape algae, and Cheato in my fuge in one of my systems. On the other hand, I have had to remove some corals to a different system due to adverse reactions they have had to the algae. For example, I have an elegance Coral, known to be picky to begin with, and the Elegance is extremely allergic to the Grape Caulerpa and fails to open in that particular system. I have since moved it to a tank void of the algae and now all is well. It is hard to say for sure which corals will be most affected, I do know that it is not clearly stated in most literature, the Elegance took some research to find out. Rest assure you will be able to figure it out, just hope that it is not too late for the coral. Post some pics of the corals on this thread for verification of the problem. Give tank specs, water parameters, lighting, maint. routine, dosing and any other important information and one of us will chime in and help you out!

thanks,

Rick
