What bulbs over a 18" deep tank

Trying to see what others are using with regards to wattage and color temp. specifically. I have tried many combos all in 250 watts, and the one thing that I have noticed is I always get some corals that do great and some..not so great. It has even crossed my mind that 2x250's over an 18" deep tank is too much.

On a 18" deep tank you could easily get away with 175's and save yourself on your electric bill.

reflector can make a big difference also. I would stick with the 2 -250's and go with good reflectors

I have 400 watters over my 17" deep tank w/ Lumenarcs and love it. But then again I'm cheap and run M59 ballasts...

Commiphora, do ALL your corals like so much light? in my situation I find certain corals grow well and others change color and do nothing. Things improved when I shortened the photoperiod from 10 hrs/day to 8hrs.
