What CA reactor media do you use?

I'm in the slow process of setting my reactor up and I cant decide which media to use. I know alot of people use ARM because it works and its cheap, but has anyone ever used KORALIith media? It's expensive but is supposed to be phosphate free . .

It depends on the reactor. ARM is great if you run a bit higher Ph as it dissolves very well but you need to clean the reactor when you change media.

The bigger Schuran type media needs a lower Ph to dissolve properly and tends not to clog the reactor as much but may use much more CO2 if your reactor is not designed to recirculate the CO2. They both work great; it's really a preference thing. I like the bigger media with lower CO2 myself but as you can see spooda420 loves the ARM.

We run a dual chamber with a combination of both. The first chamber has Schuran type media and the second chamber has ARM media. We throttle the last stage effluent pH for ~6.7-6.8 and let it run.

Now there's the best of both worlds.
It is, but we have a pretty high demand and it's been a struggle lately to keep the Alk, pH and Ca in balance so I built a Kalk Reactor this week. I need to find a bag of Mrs. Waggs and charge the system. I'll set everything up with our AC3 for pH interlocks for the Ca and Kalk reactors.
