i'm setting up a zoa and rics tank and want to know what sort of circulation i need for them? i was also planing on putting a few SPS up the top of the tank away from the other coral on different rocks. would that be ok?

I have been having rics for about 2 months. Mine like low flow and medium to high light.

I just got my first Rics and was wandeing the same thing. There are really no low flow areas in my tank. Is it OK if they move just slightly with the current from the PH?

Most people I know who have SPS up high and rics down low (a good number) have very high flow tanks and the rics do fine.

So, you are saying Rics, in general, are very hardy and can withstand a number of different conditions, including high flow?

Ya. They look best in a Medium random flow though (even better with surge), because they will be their most puffy and slightly lift off the rock with the ebb. Very peaceful IME

Honestly, I have not put them at the top of the tank infront of a power head :)

They are hearty indeed.

I have a 30g Display with 1600gph closed loop and mag 9 return.... So its about 66X per hour....

they like flow as it is to help ketch stray food if you dont target feed, as well they look cool in flow ares as well!
