What copper treatment to buy?

I have a tang loaded with ich. I think I am going to try and catch him and put him in another tank/tote with some copper to see if he can recover.

Can anyone recommend a good additive to buy that works well and fast?

Also, if anyone can give me some tips on treating with copper it would be appreciated. I've never done it before. The tank itself, do you need to be doing daily water changes etc?

I would suggest putting him in a quarentine tank and attempting hyposalinity rather than bother with copper. I'll link you up to a very thorough procedure, but basically it involves lowering the salinity in a hospital tank to 1.009. The low level of salinity kills the parasites.

Mixing in garlic with the food is said to help, too.

If you prefer copper, I have no experience with it, but imagine any will perform about the same as the next.

PS - Do NOT treat with ich in any aquarium that you ever intend to keep inverts in currently or in the future. The water, substrate, rocks will need pitched for sure. Some even worry about the silicone seals in the tank itself. Copper is always best used in a hospital tank.

I had great successes by combining hyposalinity and copper treatment which my local fish store guys called it the "silver bullet". It seems to rid of ich in a few days. However, I do the full treatment for a full 21 days even though there is no visible sign of ich.

I don't want to deal with the hypo treatment based on what that site says about it. I think I'll stick to what I got. I got Rid-Ich+ from petsmart... woohoo...

They didn't carry any copper meds, but this rid-ich+ stuff says it carrys formalin which made me buy that one. I think I am going to just try and catch the fish first and add him to a 10 gallon tote of tank water with some pvc and add the dosage to the water and go. The fish doesn't eat anymore. It may be too late, but I can try.
