Hello all:)
For those who dont know me let me introduce myself before I ask a question . I'm Virginia some of you may know me as being doorlady's(Susan) sister. Anyway, I usually don't post instead I call Bill for help...but at $29.99 a minute it gets pretty expensive..lol Ok, on to the question....While doing a water change today I noticed a pair of antenna coming out of a whole in a rock... could not see what they where attached to but begin to worry when I began to see burst of what looked like smoke coming from whatever it was...anybody have any suggestions of what it might be or what to do about it...for I'm very new to the hobby and havent a clue if this is something to worrry about or just let it be.

Thanks in advance for any advice:rollface:

If you can get a picture, we might be able to help better. How long has the tank been set up? Do you have fish and has any been found dead?

sorry..no pics as it has went back into the whole and stopped squirting whatever it was when i started the system back up. tank has only been up for a lil over 5 months and everything and everyone in the tank appears to be ok....the rock it is in is new to the system tho...only been in for 2 weeks and it came from lfs where most all of my rock came from....will watch for it to see if I can get a pic tho

Short fat antenna? Might be a stomatella snail spawning. If not, almost certainly it is something else spawning.

That may be a stomatella like Nicole suggested.
Here's a picture of stomatella:

Here's a video clip of spawning stomatella:

If the antenna looks a lot harder and tube like, it could be a vermitid snail which is a type of sessile snails.

Thanks everyone....looks like I have a stamatella that was spawning.....the antenna was identical to those shown above and from what little I could see of the body...it resembled it also
