What do I need for my refugium

Well I'm guessing my refugium will be in this coming week. So what all is needed. How much sand is needed? How much live rock? Should any inverts be in there?

I know about the light & I'm getting chaeto for it.

Sand and LR are not necessary, some snails might be a good idea to keep micro algae down. Kinda depends on what you want to get out of your fuge.

How big is it?

Sand may limit the amount of flow you can have. Rock may prevent the cheato from tumbling ( tumbling not necessary, but does provide some benefit). However sand and rock may provide a substrate for some creatures to live in and breed ( more diversity).

The refugium is about 10 gallons. As far as what I;m wanting to get out of it, is mainly filtration, but breeding ground for pods would be nice too.

Filtration and breeding ground for pods can all happen within the cheato. Some people like a really clean easy to maintain fuge so rock and sand are left out. So there's some personal preference as well.
