What do you feed your Perculas?

What do you recommend i buy? I already have the ORA food supplement, but i was wondering what types of foods you feed your clown fish?

home made mixed seafood. Kinda like a homemade recipe of Rod's food.
I have read NOT to feed them brine. Brine, while they will enjoy it very much, offers very little to no nutritional value. Don't even give it to them as a treat. Some clowns, when given a taste, can potentially refuse to eat anything else.

I'm gonna tag along this thread too.

I feed my clowns a mix of finely chopped squid, clam, tuna, nori, scallop, shrimp, and whatever other raw seafood I can find. They also enjoy formula 1 and 2 pellets.

NirvanaFan- Do you mean you go to the supermarket and buy actual seafood and nori and then feed that to your clowns? How much per clown? Like a piece of a cocktail shrimp? And How much Nori? Will Clowns eat lettuce if I put it one a clip?

Supermarket is the best place locally here to get seafood. I would not use cocktail shrimp as they are usually cooked. Always use raw and fresh. Stay away from dyed foods like imitation crab and farm raised fish filets. Stay away from fresh water foods(exception Mysis) or vegetables.

I usually go to the seafood counter and order 1 large sea scallop, 2 large shrimp(raw shell on). maybe an oyster or 2, some fresh fish filet that I plan on having for dinner( minus a raw chunk). If you are not having fish for dinner just throw in some silversides. Take them home and refreeze them if they are not frozen( easier to chop).
I grind them in a small 2 cup food processer that I bought from walmart for $9.95. I add Cyclop-eze, mysis, NatureRose, a few drops of garlic extract and selcon after all is processed . Tried it in my wifes Cuisinart and she went ballistic. Put it all in a Ziploc bag and press it down thin. Freeze it and Bon Apatite, you have food for a couple of months. Or...you can buy Rods food, which is great, for $26 pop.

I use to put in nori but only when I had other fish in the tank to feed. I only have clownfish so they don't eat the nori with all the other good stuff in the mix. My anemones love the mix also.

I feed 100% RODs. It's already made, easy to feed and I know my fish are getting everything they need. They love it too.

Yup, go to the supermarket seafood area. FishnWishn is right, make sure everything is fresh and not cooked. I buy a bunch of food at a time, chop it finely (or put it through a cheese grater even) and then place it in a plastic zip loc baggie. Put enough of it in the baggie so when you lay it on its side, the food is only about 1/4 inch thick or so. Put it in the freezer and freeze it like this. When you need some food, break off a chunk about the size of a 50 cent piece and put it in a small plastic container. Add some saltwater to the container to thaw it. I usually then swirl it around with my turkey baster and pour off the very very small pieces of food (or feed these to some corals that need it). Then add some more saltwater and suck up the food in the turkey baster. I then squirt it into the water at the clowns and their anemone and try to spot feed other fish and corals as well.

I think the last time I had to buy fish food was almost a year ago. I believe I used a dozen raw shrimp (I take off the shells, but some people say leave them on), 1/3lb scallops, a piece of squid the size of your fist, a couple sheets of nori, a dozen clams (deshelled and removed the green part), and a piece of tuna fillet the size of your fist.

The next time I make food I'll probably add some selcon as well. It is a cheap and easy food to make. I cut it up when I'm watching something on tv. It also serves as good anemone and coral food. My sun coral, frogspawn, and hammer love it. My photosynthetic gorgonian loves the very small pieces as well.
