I'm posting this here because it will be an SPS tank. What do you guys think of my first "fish tank"? It's a start..

The rockwork is off the back wall alot. In the pic's it looks like it's piled up against it, but it's not.

i second the ditch the xenia post :( it will only gobble up real estate you're gonna want for those prime SPS!! Looks like you're gonna have fun :)

Nice, I think we're all pretty impressed if this is your first tank. Talk about patience! That is key to reefkeeping :)

Psstââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦. The waterââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s too calmââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦:D

I want to see the water CHURN!!!

Looks nice. And, donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t listen to all the warnings about the Xenia. Keep it! Its growth rate will allow you to perfectly measure how clean you are keeping your tank.

I had some Xenia hitchhike in a rock I transferred from my 180 to my 120 six months ago. The water in the 120 is so nutrient poor, the Xenia hasnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t grown at all. Itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s still healthy and just pulses away. It just doesnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t grow. If your little patch of Xenia starts to grow, it means your nutrient levels are too high, and you either need to skim more heavily or siphon detritus more diligently.

Rock work is nice.

Did you cook the rocks? It seems that the rocks are so clean and do not look like LR's to me...

Also, do you plan to glue the frags on the rocks directly?

Just curious...

Thanks everyone for the comments, it means alot comming from some of you. :)

I only put the xeina in there because my boy has a bunch that he got from a club member. I wasn't planning on keeping it, but my girl likes it. It's attached to a little rock and if it grows past it, it's getting trimmed back. I don't think it likes the flow too much in there anyway.

jsweir, that's the only way to have it.

ahchung, Yeah it's been cooking for awhile. the guy who had it before me kept it in a covered rubbermaid with a powerhead in his garage for 4 month. This pretty much got the rock to look clean. Then I dunked and swished the rocks everyweek in new water to get all of the crud out. Now I can point a penductor at the rocks and nothing but bubbles comes out. :)

Thanks again everyone. :)

Weatherman you'll see the water churn once I gets me new skimmer. Actually you wont see anything since it will sparkle like your tank. Muhahahahahah

I'm not sure if the tank is cloudy, or if it's the glass, or if the starboard is so white that it looks cloudy??

If I decided to add a cleaner shrimp today, would I need to feed it?

It looks like the rock and starboard are so clean and reflective it's overexposing the camera image. When I take pictures I manually set the shutter speed and the aperture to make sure the image is crisp and clear.

It would be a good idea to feed your cleaner shrimp since there's nothing else in the tank to eat at the moment. I give the cleaners and peppermints in my bare-bottom tanks tiny bits of krill once or twice a week when I'm feeding my anemones.

Current Tanks: I'm working on it.. Get off my case already, sheesh.

I almost passed out!

You finally got the tank set up, and it looks fantastic!

Great tank, great job!!
