What does a dying Goniopora look like

I have a large golf ball size green Goniopora that has not wanted to open much for the last few weeks. I Have a red one healthy as can be. Now there is brown fuzzy stuff covering it. I brushed it off out of the tank and it came back. is this normal death of a goniopora or is it that brown slime stuff I've heard about? Is it contagious and should I remove it ASAP? Where does it come from? I just had a die off of my 3 Xenias due to my lack of acclimation from my new Kessils- could this be related? Parameters all normal but high calcium and low DKH (7). recently added bag of carbon to sump

Is the goniin in trouble a lime green Stokeski variety? Your description is how they die and death is the rule & not the exception with this species. Sounds like brown jelly disease. Personally I would get it out and isolate it as many people say BJD is bacterial in nature.

Many of the red varieties are very hardy, like the ones coming from ORA.
