What does everyone use to ID their power cables for they set ups?
I have a lable maker with black print on clear tape. Works great for a lighter object like my outlet covers but not so good for cables. I'm going to look on E-bay again and see if I can't find black ink on a white background that would be more suited for cables.

brother p-touch, I love that thing

Same here, and they are pretty cheap also.

I should add you have to wrap the labels around the cable not along it otherwise they just seem to peel off.

When you get a ton of cords it can be a mess.
I also use that p-touch labeler to sometimes label the receptacle on the wallplate above where the cord plugs in and that way I don't have to mark the cable. It works pretty well also.

being the crazy DIY type I've been conteplating wiring up dedicated outlets and switches in my stand (thus negating the need for cord labeling I suppose) and then labeling the switches themselves.... but being the crazy DIY type it's a project that is going to have to wait until I finish at least one of my 3000 others.

I will recommend that if you do use the Ptouch, get the outdoor tape, its only about $2 more and doesnt go all goofball when it gets a drop of water on it! I label each cord at the plug and about halfway up to help when I have to trace something back. I've also got in the habit of labeling my water buckets with the thing so I know what I'm adding / mixing / etc. (helps me keep from adding the 1.014 brackish to my reef or using my dirty water bucket as a new water bucket). I also have my desired water params stuck on the inside of my stand doors and the boxes of spare parts labeled in case I ever have to have a tank sitter!

If your the super anal type you can use the thing to label the breaker panel in the home as well, which sounds like a waste of time but that one time you have a quirk it's well worth it.

all in all the $60 or so you will spend on a p-touch is more than worth it.

Or use Excell to track all your water testing to get trend analysis.

Label? ID? Whats that? LOL! I guess I should label all my cords when the 150 gets setup. I have to do the ol fashion tugging on the cord to see which one it is.

The ole tug on the cord, yeah been there before.
when you get about 20 cords and they all move when you tug them its tough ;)
I want to label all my water pipes also. Scott is working on having cool labels with arrows indicating flow direction.
I love that look when you see a big public display.
