what happened to my mantle extension?!

my 3inch crocea always had good mantle extension and has always been in great health. but today its mantle extension isnt good at all, barely coming out over the opening in the shell.

whats wrong? havent added anything new to the tank.

do you have any other clams in the tank. how are your water parameters? lights new or old? checked for snails? other than all the stuff you didnt mention, your clam may just not need to open up as much as it did. some peoples clams dont open a whole lot and there is nothing wrong with that. they recieve enough food and light. fill us in with the rerst of the data and we may be able to determine whats up.

water paramsrfine. lights r 6-7 months old. i checked for snails and there r none. no other clams in the tank.

i keep the clam on the sandbed, i was thinking that sand might have blown into it?

it may just be a local temporary irritant. check every few hours if possible- if it doesn't resolve in 24-48 hours, then consider more sinister problems.
