What happened to my mushroom

I had this flourescent orange muchroom that was doing so good up until last week. There is a little one left but it hasn't grown in months. I had moved it to a lower light area right before it happened. It just shrunk up and after a week it just disappeared one morning.
Nothing changed in my tank besides moving it.
However, I think there is some sort of sponge that grew around the disk it was on. Can spong eat corals?

sometimes it takes a coral a while to adjust to the new lighting/new flow after it is moved. Even though it hasn't fully expanded, it looks to still have good color. How long has it been since you moved it? I have moved other softies and they stayed closed for a month and then came out looking better than ever.

About the sponge - I don't know if that could be the cause of irritation. I have plenty of mushrooms close to sponges and haven't seen something like this.

It's gone....just dissapeared, shriveled into nothing.
I got the mushroom about 4 months ago and it was doing great.

are your salinity or ca levels high?
