What happened to my zoa frag

Hey guys,

Recently I brought my first frag to take the plunge into the world of zoanthids. At first all seemed well the zoa opening up and looking awesome under a newly purchased light to make the colours glow.

But now it seems the zoas have or are in the process of dying. Has not came out in 2 days. It does glow ever so slightly under the blue light but they never come out.

Again this is my first time trying to keep coral and thought I had kept my tank good enough for this but now I must not have. Parameters are good always, good cleanup crew, good flow, good lighting.

I am quite sad at the fact I haven't managed to make this zoa frag thrive.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Added pictures below to show my issue.

Thanks.

They are sort of on the edge of a flow from a powerhead not directly in it tho. Quite close to the surface i thought I'd put them as closer to the light? Hopefully you can see it on the picture added, to the right of the top rock.

Too close to the light possibly. Especially if you didn't acclimate them to that. Put them on the sand bed. And if you want them up there, move them up slowly. Or don't move them but dim the light a lot and slowly increase the intensity. Also, post your parameters. Nitrate, phosphate, calc, alk, mag. "Good always" isn't helpful.

Always put new corals on the sandbed with moderate flow in order to acclimate them, or that happens. Never put a new coral at the top of the tank.
