What is hanging out of my clownfish??

Hi everyone!
I have had my ocy clownfish for about 4 months and I have never seen this before! What is hanging out of him!?! It doesn't look like poop!

Anyone?? He's not swimming around much today and didn't eat. Normally he's a pig and swims all over the place!

Fish looks a bit bloated. Not sure what I'm looking at in the photo. Possibly impacted fecal leading to a prolapse? I cant be sure without another picture.

What are you feeding and how much?

He does look really bloated. I've been feeding him and my other fish a small pea sized amount of Rod's Original once a day.
I also have another ocy clownfish, a black cap basslet, a green clown goby, and an arrow crab.
Does a prolapse mean he might die??

Did you QT him when you got him and treat him prophylactically for intestinal parasites? It looks to me like he has worms. Likely your other animals have it as well.

You might be able to save him by pulling him out, and putting him in a hospital tank. Either treat the hospital tank with prazi-pro or do a formalin dip. While in QT feed him metronidazole laced food. NLS makes some.

By the looks of him he won't make it much longer. You need to treat the other fish as well, they probably all have it now. 4 months seems like an appropriate time frame too.

Sorry. Chalk it up to a lesson learned.

Whatever it was, he passed it. He's still pretty bloated though.
No, I didn't quarantine him when I got him. He was my first fish I got. I am very new to the hobby and didn't know you needed to quarantine fish. My LFS never told me you had to do that. :uhoh2:
Of course I have been doing tons of research since then and know better now.

I would at the very least grab some nls pellets with metronidazole and feed your existing fish with it in the display tank per the instructions on the box just to make sure.

Hex shield, hex guard or something I can't remember the name.

I would worm your fish with PraziPro. I do this every 4-6 months and always have them passing worms or flukes. All fish have parasites especially if you've never wormed them. PraziPro is safe to all reef critters and can be dosed up to triple normal dose, IF you have certain flukes that aren't killed by the normal dose.

If you do a search you will find a lot of info on PraziPro. I did a thread on it even going into why I triple dosed my fish.

With new fish it's best to do a Formalin dip, do the TTM and also two rounds of PraziPro. This will insure that you have a relatively parasite free fish as well as your tank. BUT again I always worm my tank with PraziPro every 4-6 months anyway.

I had no clue prazi-pro was reef safe.

Not trying to sound like an idiot, but what is TTM? I've read about setting up a QT tank, but I didn't see anything about Formalin dips or PraziPro, and how to do it.

Update on my clownfish.
He doesn't look bloated like he did yesterday, however he's still not swimming around much. Normally he's a spaz all over the tank and constantly begging for food. He's also breathing a little fast.
Of course my LFS is closed today, so I'm going to go up to the pet supply store and see if they have PraziPro.
I also tested the tank today. Specific gravity 1.023, PH-8, KH- 7, Ammonia- 0, Nitrite- 0.
I'm really hoping my clown pulls through. :uhoh2:

Get him treated and he should be fine. His belly still looks pretty bloated in that last pic.
