What is the best way to seed my new fuge?

What is the best way to seed my new fuge? I have a 4"deep sand bed and some caulerpa, I added some nasaureus snails for the sand but that's about it so far. I have some dead rock finishing its curing phase in a seperate tank and will be adding it soon. But still, how do I get the most from my fuge, I want a veriety of critters and bacteria growing rampent, I want to only have to do a water change every 4-6mos. if I choose. Is there a live culture product that will add veriety and self-sufficiency to my fuge? Thanks for any input or help.

check out indo pacific sea farm .com
they sell a fuge starter kit and live sand activator its pretty good
or get a nice piece of live rock or a cup or two of live sand from another established tank

If you come close, I'll give you some rubble from my fuge. Caulerpa can create other problems, but you can do a search and find out more about that. You could get some from a few reefers to get different things in there. What you keep, what and how much you feed and your skimmer will control water changes, but every 4 to 6 months can be a bit tough.

She spoke at a PMAS meeting this year. Very knowledgable about microscopic critters. Caulerpa took over my display just by having it in my sump. Halloween urchin was the only thing to eat it. If you are going to grow algae for nutrient export, why not grow something that can be a food source

I thought Tangs eat caulerpa like candy. No? That's why I'm groing it; When it gets bigger and needs thinning i can just feed it to him. Am I wrong in that thinking?
Thanks for the links everyone.

My tang always ate calerpa and even the big angels, clowns and damsels would go after it.
PS How is Absalom doing?

I have 4 tangs and 2 different urchins. Only 1 urchin will eat it. There are different types of calerpa though.
