i know its suposed to be green cause that is natural coloer thats not the problem, the problem is its curled up and has been like that all day. what should i do? is this normal? it hasent ever really done this besides the time i fisrt introduced it into the tank.

Give it a few day, should be fine. If something crawled over them and ticked em off, they'll shrink up. The white stuff is actually "coral guts", I forget the actual term for those filaments. Hermit crabs and similar critters can irritate them and cause them to act this way. How big are those guys? They look kinda small but may just be the photo's. I've got one that clears 12" across. Hairy mushrooms can get kinda big and feed on small fish. Just FYI

ooh wow that crazy awesome haha there not to big just got them about 3 weeks ago. there about 2-3 inches wide when there triving.it is in a 10 gallon so im limited to fish i just have one small scooter blenny in there now and that probably all im putting in there. possible a clown i dont know yet though. so how do they eat the smaller fish? thats crazy i never new that.

FYI, a scooter blenny is not a blenny, it is a dragonnete, just like the green mandarin or spotted mandarin and will have the same feeding requirments. Live pods only, and you will NOT be able to provide sufficeint food in a 10g for it. They are sold as "blenny's" as a marketing tool. Get a refugium on that tank quickly and supplement pods to feed it or get a much larger tank. Look up the requirments needed for a mandarin, that's what you'll need for a scooter. If yours will eat prepared foods, like frozen mysis or brine, all the more power to ya!

One more thing, watch the mid section on that scooter, if he is getting a definate pinched look to him (best to view from above if possible, or while he's verticle in the tank to get a full view of him) than that's a sign of starvation. They will starve somewhat slowly, may even take several months (probably not in that small of a tank though, he can easily clear out if food source in there very very quickly)

what kind of live food dose it like? how do you setup a fuge and what is the general point of it? i always wondered.

lol, them eating brine is good, but brine itself isn't going to be the best food. It's great if newly hatched but for an older fish, they require a bit different food makeup. And too much brine can add to your nitrates quickly.

As for the kind of live foods, just the pods that naturally occur in my tank. No supplemented feeding given. A fuge though, is basically an area for pods to breed and grow without fear of being eaten by a fish or other critter. This can be as simple as a strawberry holding basket (the little green ones) turned upside down on the sand and hidden in your rockwork (the fish cannot get inside to eat the pods) but that would not be nearly enough for this fish and this tank. More often, a refugium will be a "sump" setup with just the sand/rock/pods added to it. Same thing, better benefits. You can also use the refugium to grow macro-algae. Some fish will eat this, but more imporatantly, it'll act as another means of nutrient export, and help to naturally reduce the nitrates and phosphates in our systems. cleaner water quality. By fuge is setup really basic like, I have an external overflow box, runs to the fuge, and a return pump stuck in there pumping back up to the tank. About 500gph flow through it. 2" of sand and rubble rock, and then a big ball of cheatomorphia (macro algae). And a cheapy clamp light over it all for lighting (this is for the algae, the pods don't really "need" the light).

Since your scooter is eating brine, you may wanna try weaning him onto some frozen mysis. a better choice in my opinion. Dragonettes are not the easiest thing to train onto prepared foods, but if you can, it would help ensure he stays healthy.

Was he fattened up when you got him, or has he been getting fatter in your tank?

he's been getting fatter. he was deffinatly skinnier when i got him about a month ago. and i know hes eating. i just figure maby i can give him a little extra and then some haha. i just have one question. how can i do the hole sump deal with my tank filled up? i know i wont be able to drill it.is there a different way i can do this?

External overflow box. My tank is not drilled either. And use a submersable return pump (many can be used in-line or submersed, like a mag 3 or 5) If he's getting fatter, you may be lucky enough to have one that'll eat more than just the pods. That's a good thing. But newer tanks usually have a higher pod population that slowly decreases as the system stabalizes and their food sources exhausted. So he may start to shrink in the future. As long as you know what to watch for you should be okay. Just FYI, if ask around here about the external boxes, you're going to get alot of people just telling you to drill the tank. So make sure you get the message across that it's not a possibility, the tank is filled and being used. :D

All my fuges are DIY projects. They are actually quite easy to make, let me see if I can round up a link for ya.

the mushroomlooks like its getting worse. its starting to fall apart a little bit on the bottom. is that normal? there is also more guts coming out of it. should i take action? if so what should i do?

i had a scooter blenny in a 10g tank... i took a packing tube and cut a bit out of one end, and dropped my marine cuisine in the tube... it would break up and make its way to the bottom and the scooter could gorge himself
