What is this?

Hi Fellow Reef Nerds!

I just set up my Nuvo8 about 4 weeks ago and I noticed this strange type of white slime/film growing on my silicone. I have never resealed the tank nor have I used anything in the tank except RODI. I was wondering if anyone has seen this before? When I move my mag float over it comes off in a small to large flake.

It's just one in a long list of algae and growths you will see as your tank matures.

Its pretty common for plastic to do this. in my last reef the flex tubing I used would make this stuff all the time and everytime i restarted my return the flakes would go all over my tank. I wouldn't worry about it and can say that it won't harm anything.
