My newly started tank is amount midway through its cycle with Ammonia at <.25 ppm, Nitrite at 1.0 ppm, and Nitrate at 50 ppm. It has only been cycling for about 3 weeks. The tank was started with 150 pounds of dry rock, and about 5 pounds live rock along with an uncooked cocktail shrimp that was removed after 3 days when the Ammonia spiked.
While looking deep into the rock this morning where it is shadowed from light, I noticed an opaque gelatinous looking object between two rocks that is about 1-1/2" in width and height. I am almost certain it was not their three weeks ago, and has appeared very rapidly. It also appears to have a small slit about a 1/4" in length on the surface.
Any idea what this might be?
