What is your favorite show fish for a 65g?

I have a 65g reef tank that is about 5 months old and so far is healthy and thriving. I currently have a pair of Ocellaris clowns, a pair of Firefish, and a Yellow Watchman. I am looking for a larger, colorful, less common fish to really set off the tank. Ideally I would like a swimmer that is out more than hiding. I know many of you are tired of these threads but I would love some suggestions.

I really like fairy wrasses. There's a wide variety of them and they vary quite a bit in price so it would depend on how much you're looking to spend.

I have a similar sized tank and have a marine Betta, melanurus wrasse and a leopard wrasse as larger "show" fish.

A smaller species of fairy wrasse is also a good idea, or a dwarf angel. I've wanted a potters angel for a while, but temperature requirements have stopped me.

I'd say a dwarf angel , or a pair even a trio of argis or flame backs would be sweet. But then I'm not a wrasse man!

You said it was a reef tank. What corals/inverts do you expect to have? This can make a big difference on what show fish you put in there.

What are the dimensions of the tank?

I have Zoas, Leathers, Xenia, and a Frogspawn. For inverts I have a Peppermint, Blood Red, pistol, and Harlequin Shrimp.

Here is a current FTS:

With that invert stocking list. You could try, with some risk, a dwarf angel, I personally wouldn't go with a multicolor as I have seen them do some damage, YMMV. They are a cool fish. I agree with the post above that the Golden's are beautiful. They are a little bit less risky.

Good luck, let us know what you choose.

I'll agree on the fairy wrasse. There are some sweet looking fish with fun personalities in that group. Just be sure to research the one you like because some need more space and are more aggressive.

OK, I think I am going to go with a Fairy Wrasse, but there are so many to choose from. Anyone want to offer a suggestion for one that is hardy a colorful?

My show fish in my 75g is a CBB. Took him a while but he is now always out and about and, along with my CB clowns, the most bold and interested fish in my aquarium.

I personally think that a butterfly would look great in your tank. Possibly a prognathodes species.

Have you looked into the Marcellae Butterfly?

Candy Hogfish are great looking fish that always swim around. Michael's fish is also a good choice and not a common one.

Some of the more-behaved dwarf angels (Centropyge) would be good. You have no LPS to munch, though the Xenia might be a target for one. I have a 60 gallon Reef at the moment, with a Flameback (C. ancanthops) and my Bicolor ( C. bicolor) from my previous Reef. You could try a Cherub or Flameback. But in that size tank, my vote would go for a Flame (C. loriculus) or a Coral Beauty.
What can I say, I'm an Angelfish geek.
And proud of it!

I went with a Flame Angel. I have always liked them and found a great specimen at my LFS. Sonar he is a model citizen. I have had him for two days and he is eating frozen brine and mysis.

Here he is:

The one I started this nearly 6 years ago for. So far, not kept one, but eventually I will.
Just love the Flames!
