What kind of algae...

...does a Lawnmower Blenny eat? MY little LMB is skinny even though he eats a little bit of the omniverous frozen food when I feed my Flame Angel. He also eats some mysis when I serve that.

I constantly have a very light brown algae that is almost hair-like (but never more that a few milimeters tall) growing on my rocks, and the LMB picks at it all the time.

Does anyone know if this type of algae can sustain him?

IME, just about any algae (but not cyanobacteria or dinoflagellates). If you're worried about post-algae sustenance, use Nori (Seaweed Selects), ON's Formula Two (flake, pellet or frozen), SFBB's Emerald Entree, etc.

Thanks KDodds. He's eating the algae, but I'm just not sure he is getting enough nutrients from this particular type. I will try clipping some nori to the glass soon.

I'm also hoping someone can tell me if LMBs are known to be captured with cyanide. I fear somethings wrong, since my fish isn't as active as he was a week ago. He's also shaking and twitching occasionally - I fear ich in the gills, although I haven't definitively observed the parasite on the body or fins.
