I currently have a 130 Watt JEBO Odyssea Light Fixture.
It is the second one I have owned. I had the first one about 6 months before its fans died. I figured it was a fluke, and I believed articles I read that said Odysseas were great quality fixtures. So I bought another one...and guess what...6 months later, its fans have died as well.

I don't want another one of these...fool me twice shame on me.

Can anyone give me a suggestion on what type of fixture to buy?
I am most concerned that it be VERY QUIET.

Also, I need some suggestions on what bulbs to use. White, Actinic, etc???????

Thank you so much!!!

The Coralife fixtures are much like the Odysseas, except they are actually nice. I have an Odyssea and it is far from quality. The Coralife would be nice, I'm sure.

That is, unless of course, you don't want to go to MH...

I second that one, I have had 5 or 6 Coralife PC fixtures. They are all still working, never had a problem with them. 50/50 bulbs work pretty well and look nice. they have most any size you want.
You are most likely fine with PCs now. But if you want higher light loving critters you might want to think about some MH.

IMHO, one of the best things about running a tank 2'x2' or less is that you can light it with a single mh bulb...I would buy a 150w hqi with a 14k phoenix or 20k bulb and run a single led moon light. With that you could keep most any coral and you can't beat that shimmer effect. Go with a pendant and a small fan(clip -on, blowing across the water) to keep it cool in the summer and you'll be fine.

I like the sound of the 150w hqi mentioned above.
Can anyone suggest a good place to buy one of these things.
I would like to get something that is ready to use.

I read that these lights put out UV light so they should be covered with a uv shield.
I have cats and don't want to blind them so I'd like to buy something that already has a shield and is ready to go.

thanks

Hate to say it, but even taking into account the expense, I'm a hardcore fan of the Current USA Outer Orbit series. I bought the 36" for my 65gal reef a month ago, and it flat out rocks.

The ONLY regret I have is that it's only a 150W MH. It's a bright freakin' 150, though. :-)
