What makes a harry mushroom do this?

Two days ago the harry mushroom in the first picture looked like the mushrooms in the 2nd picture. I have 6 of them in my tank and the other five are fine. It looks bleached out with fluorescent green tips, looks really cool in person and my wife loves it. but what happened?

It looks bleached, something enviromental most likely caused that. How much light do you have it under? Did you recently move it? When mine split they shrink up some and split, they dont bleach in the process.

yes I thank it is bleached. It has been in that spot for 3 months and looked great. my lighting is 1x250 MH 46g tank. 2 of the other Harry mushrooms are closer and to the light and are fine.

Thats odd, I have my hairys right on the surface of the water under a 150 hqi and they split and go crazy but never bleach. Have you changed your bulbs recently?

How old are the bulbs? has the tank temps gotten to high with the summer months approaching?

Something caused it, they dont just bleach out for no reason. Its very interesting, please keep up updated.

The bulb is about 7 months old. and the temp stays between 79-82. It's just crazy that 1 out of 6 bleached out like this.
I will keep you posted. Thanks for the help so far.

Two of mine bleached out hairy mushroms also, identical to yours, I watched them ooze out their zooanthelle at night. I've been moving them around a lot in my Aquapod w/ halide and I guess I ****ed them off for good this time. It's been about a week though and they don't look like their dying so I think that mine will be fine.

Harold, my buddy has the same shroom and his just recently did the same thing i just found out.

I often wonder if the seasons dont affect our tanks in some way beyond our control? is it even possible?
Alot of folks on the sps forum just had a bunch of problems with their sps for no apparent reason. It seems odd to me when people acrossed the country experience the same things in their tanks around the same time for no apparent reason.

perhaps moon cycles can still play a roll in the life forms in our tanks...?

i have seen similar mushrooms for sale at stores that assure me they were not intentionally made that way...and that they have had several in like that that have all done well..

update on the harry. It is getting it's back and looking better. but now have another one that has done the same thing.
since my last post one of the shrooms have split and now I have eight and they all look great except for the bleached one.
