my 70 gallon has very little watermovement. atleast I think so. I what im wondering is what model maxijet would you all recomend. i am planning on doing the MJ mods on them eventualy. how many should I get. just looking for opinions. anything will help.

i have 2 of the maxi jet mods in my 90 gallon reef and they are not that reliable for starting and stopping on a wave maker .so i just today got 3 new ones in town on sale and put them on the wave maker this will work for now i am going to try and perfect the restarting of the modded ones in the right direction if i can do that then i am going to make a wave box with one of the modded ones

900s or 1200s. Since you plan on modding them, I think a modded 1200 (or 2) may be overkill for a 70 gallon. Keep in mind, also, that a 900 moves 3/4 of the water that a 1200 does at somewhere around half of the power consumption.

If I were you, I'd buy 900s.

I have a 900 that's modded with the low flow kit and it will push water all the way across my 5' tank and back a little. 2 1200's would be way overkill. What's the length of your tank?

its a 36 inch tank

I run 2 1200's in 40 breeder and I feel it's a bit much for the 36" length. I wouldn't mind dropping down to 900's myself.

I would seriously go with 1 900 modded with the med. flow kit and maybe 1 or 2 1200's unmodded switching back and forth. Unless you're going to go barebottom or all SPS then the sky's the limit!
