What pump for MRC-2?

Hello everyone,

I have a GenX PCX-40 and a GenX PCX-70 and I need to know which one to use on my MRC-2 beckett skimmer. Would the larger pump be better, or is it too much? Also, to get the maximum flow out of the PCX-40, what size PVC should I use (it has 3/4" in/out)?

Thanks,
Mike

I think the GenX PCX 55 is the perfect pump for this skimmer, that's what I use.

You might try the 70, but it might be too much, or just get the riser tube, turn it into the MR-3 and then use the 70 :D

If you choose to use the 40, then I would say use 1 inch PVC to help get a little more punch out of it.

Forgot to mention, the skimmer actually has a riser installed:

A 55 class pump will give very good performance on a 24" or 32" single beckett. The 70 class pumps give better performance on dual becketts. Considering you only have a 75 gallon tank and the pcx40 uses much less wattage and is much quieter I would use that one, at least at first. 1" output with a 1 1/2" suction will give you good performance. You might try posting in the MRC thread as well.
