What pump to use on a recirculating skimmer?

I have a 60" tall, 10" diameter, single beckett Aerofoamer 848. I am currently running the pump, an Iwaki 100, off the sump, through the skimmer and drain back to sump. I am having a problem keeping the water level consistant. Sometimes too high, sometimes it's too low.

I originally started the system feeding the skimmer off the return pump and using the Iwaki 100 to use the water in the skimmer to power the becket. There seemed to an awful lot of turbulance in the skimmer column. I switched back to the method above.

Is the pump to big for a redirculating set up? Should I install a second beckett?

Thanks

With an Iwaki 100 you could EASILY power two becketts and I would highly recommend doing so. As far as recircultaing goes, your skimmer would handle it just fine I would think but Maybe you could post a pic of your skimmer so I can take a look at it....

I agree. I run my 50" tall dual beckett off a pan world 200ps (equivalent to an iwaki 70)...works great!
